The California case starts with roster balance. The Stoners have Washington and Reed as other reserve receivers, while Gainwell and Jones supply backfield cover. Exchanging a receiver could add a different running-back option. That only improves the roster if the incoming player’s opportunity and availability are worth the receiver flexibility California would surrender.
An opposing manager might consider the framework if receiver depth is a clearer need than keeping an extra back. The same manager could reasonably reject it if the running back offers better injury protection, more reliable involvement or greater long-term value.
