California added Jared Goff and dropped Josh Downs on Sep. 10 at 1:28 p.m., according to the transaction page verified Sep. 12. Goff and Parker Washington both appear on the current Tony Romo bench. That establishes the roster move and the available reserve options without rewriting who started Week 1.
Maye’s completed 14.82 points remain California’s quarterback contribution for this week. Goff’s 23.21 projection at the Sep. 12, 11:30 a.m. PT check was a forecast for a reserve player. Comparing one finished score with another player’s forecast is not enough to settle either the original decision or the next one.
The addition creates a useful future choice, but carrying a second quarterback also consumes a bench spot. California should evaluate the alternative once actual performance, availability and the next matchup are known. The question is whether the extra quarterback gives more weekly value than the receiver depth that occupied the spot before.
Washington, Reed and Pittman remain receiver reserves, with Gainwell and Jones providing running-back cover. That leaves California options beyond quarterback as the season develops. Goff’s arrival is best assessed as a future decision the club can now make, with a roster cost attached. It cannot recover points from a game that has already finished.
