It benched one of its cleanest solutions while several active spots underperformed in plain sight.
Ashton Jeanty scored 32.7 on the bench. Jameson Williams scored 8.5 in the flex. Jeanty could have filled that slot for a 24.2-point improvement while retaining Jonathan Taylor and Chase Brown at RB. That is the column. Mike Evans’ 16.9 on the bench also beat Tetairoa McMillan’s 10.5 or Jameson. Those are the fair internal comparisons that hurt because they are so obvious after the fact.

Rice still offers Monday oxygen, and he should not be judged before kickoff. But the larger issue is already settled: this team’s first fix is honesty about Jeanty and the flex, with a fresh review of workload and matchup before the next lineup locks.
