Purdy’s Bench Haunts Pat’s, But Doesn’t End It

Pat’s Perfect Team left 28.10 from Brock Purdy on the bench, yet Chase’In a 3-peat still has to finish the job.

Chase’In a 3-peat leads Pat’s Perfect Team 30-12.90 as of Sep. 11, 12:06 p.m. PT, with the projected finish still favoring Chase 129.72-120.08. The most obvious twist is sitting right on Pat’s bench: Brock Purdy has 28.10 points there, a number large enough to dominate the emotional read of this matchup.

It should not dominate the analytical read. Bench points are real, but they do not automatically prove a bad decision before kickoff, especially in a game where many starters are still waiting to define the real scoring curve. Pat’s Perfect Team also shows TreVeyon Henderson, Chris Godwin Jr., Mike Washington Jr. and Jacory Croskey-Merritt on the bench, with Isiah Pacheco in IR.

For Chase’In a 3-peat, the current advantage is solid but not overwhelming. The projected margin is only 9.64, which means this is still a contest more than a coronation. For Pat’s, the challenge is resisting the urge to turn one missed bench outcome into the entire explanation of the week.

The most useful takeaway is roster pressure, not lineup shame. Pat’s Perfect Team may come out of Week 1 wanting more certainty around the most fragile spots, while Chase’In a 3-peat has an opportunity to convert a good opening snapshot into a standings edge. But neither side has earned a final verdict from Thursday noise alone.
