Vele and Raymond Earn Tony Romo Waiver Attention

California’s best future options are target earners, not just one-touchdown curiosities.

At Yahoo’s 2:57 p.m. PDT available-player capture on September 13, 2026, California’s most appealing Tony Romo waiver targets sit in the pass game. This is a full-PPR league, and the best clues for future value are observed targets and catches. These players are shown as W (Sep 16), with a Wednesday waiver date, not immediate free agents.

Devaughn Vele is the clearest fit for this format. He scored 19.9 points on nine targets, seven catches, 69 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown helps, but the target total is what makes him interesting for California. A receiver drawing that much involvement can matter even in quieter scoring weeks.

Kalif Raymond belongs in the same conversation for a different reason. He finished with 16.4 points without scoring a touchdown, getting there on nine targets, eight catches and 84 yards. In a PPR league, that shape is valuable because it does not rely on a single spike play to stay useful.

Mike Gesicki also profiles as a practical add after seven targets, five receptions, 78 yards and a touchdown produced 18.8 points. For a roster already weighing weekly choices at flex and depth, a tight end who earns usable target volume can solve multiple matchup problems.

Bryce Young and Tyler Shough are also unrostered quarterback options here. Their opening scores merit review alongside matchups and future opportunity, not an automatic change. Vele, Raymond and Gesicki offer the clearest receiving-usage evidence in this shortlist. Any waiver claim affects a future eligible lineup; it cannot replace a completed Week 1 starter or guarantee next week’s workload.
