Two more Rollmerican games from the Sep. 10, 6:22 p.m. PT update deserve a little skepticism before anybody starts engraving takes into stone. Paintin’ Manning led Accomplished Accomplice 48-32, and the projections still leaned Paintin’ Manning 236-226. Real Life Al Bundy led Mr. McGibblets 5-0, but that projection gap was a canyon: McGibblets at 241, Bundy at 206. In an in-progress Week 1, those are two very different species of lead.
Paintin’ Manning against Accomplished Accomplice looks like the sturdier start because the live scoreboard and the projection model agree. Even there, a 16-point head start in a format with giant touchdown swings is less sturdy than it feels. Accomplished Accomplice is only 10 projected points behind, which is fantasy’s way of saying the gap is more inconvenience than verdict. If you are trying to identify a quiet danger team from the latest league update, it might be Accomplished Accomplice: behind, yes, but not buried, and probably happy to let everyone else admire Paintin’ Manning’s early paint job.
The stranger game is Real Life Al Bundy versus Mr. McGibblets. The 5-0 score flatters Bundy, but the projection says McGibblets is still the better bet by 35 points. One risk was visible in that update: Bundy had Brock Bowers in a starting tight end slot with an OUT designation and zero projection at capture time. That is not a fresh official injury bulletin; it is simply what the snapshot showed. It also means Bundy was carrying a structural problem before the rest of the week really opened.
So the smartest Week 1 read is not that Bundy is ahead. It is that McGibblets has not started losing yet. There is a difference, and fantasy leagues are built on people missing it.
